During our last round of bargaining the Parties negotiated a Letter Of Understanding to strike a joint committee to discuss the expectations and provision of pedagogical supports. Despite the participation of Senior Administration on that Committee, the University has thus far failed to implement any of the Committee’s recommendations. Adding further insult to injury, we have seen ongoing decreases in pedagogical support at Brock. Moreover, class sizes have increased creating unsustainable workloads. With this increase comes additional administrative tasks for our members, (e.g., accommodation requests, grade appeals, misconduct cases) which are further exacerbated by the decrease in administrative support owing to recent staffing cuts. In the end, students pay the price.
Our demand is simple. Senior Administration must come to the table ready to agree to new language in our Collective Agreement that improves pedagogical support.
