2026 Bargaining Mandate – Real People Real Education

As AI becomes part of the new reality, we recognize the need to secure strong language that protects our intellectual property and guards against the negative effects of AI. We firmly uphold that a university should be run by and for people and not AI. Without guardrails, AI has the potential to undermine our work and our valuable contributions to the Brock community. Our union siblings at the Trent University Faculty Association have already made progress in this area by securing language that addresses some of the concerns raised by the introduction of AI into the university sector. Their success proves that these gains are possible and by standing together we can secure language that guards against the erasure of job security and intellectual property rights.
